The City of Cascais installed the Seatrac device to improve accessibility to one of their beaches.

Portugal is well known for its beaches with over 800km of coast and over 600 beaches. Accessibility is one of the characteristics to have a high level of certification of quality and therefore many municipalities invest on improving accessibility to their beaches. One of the municipalities with a well known history record on improving accessibility is Cascais, which continues to improve the quality of accessibility and associated infrastructure. Cascais invested on several infrastructure improvements with a specific highlight to the Seatrac device installed at Praia da Duquesa, near the city center.

This device is composed of a track, a chair with crowlers and the electrical equipment required to operate. The device can then be used by people with disabilities with a fairly level of autonomy, to enter and exit the Atlantic Ocean, by accessing a controller that can be operated by the person itself or by a personal assistant.

With this equipment and improvements on other infrastructures Cascais aims to continue being one of the leading municipalities on accessibility to beaches, giving people more autonomy and access to a variety of places.
