By Ministerial Decision No. 3003/12.03.2025 (Government Gazette B’ 1159), Greece introduced a certification scheme for accessible tourism enterprises. This decision sets out the criteria and conditions for granting the certification, specifies the format and type of the relevant label, and defines its period of validity.

The purpose of this certification is to encourage tourism enterprises to provide seamless access to the full range of tourism services for all individuals, promote alternative forms of year-round tourism, and enhance the overall quality of tourism services offered. Certified tourism enterprises are recognized as accessible to everyone, including persons with disabilities.

In addition, the Ministerial Decision stipulates that each tourism enterprise awarded the Accessible Tourism Enterprise Certification must ensure that, in every shift, all staff members who interact with and/or provide services to the public have received specialized training in serving persons with disabilities. This training must be certified by a competent institution that designs and implements such programmes, such as the Educational Units for Tourism Professionals of the Hellenic Ministry of Tourism, the Institute of the National Confederation of Disabled People of Greece (IN-ESAmeA), or other equivalent bodies.

The Accessible Tourism Enterprise Label is awarded by the Regional Tourism Service of the Hellenic Ministry of Tourism, which has jurisdiction over the area where the applying tourism enterprise is located.

The Accessible Tourism Business label and certificate are valid for five years from the date of issuance, with the possibility of continuous renewal for an additional five years.
