Globally, there is a significant employment gap for autistic people. Estimates suggest that less than 29% (ons.gov.uk) of autistic individuals are in meaningful employment that matches their qualifications.
A recent study by experts such as Kai Vogeley and Christine M. Falter-Wagner from the Universities of Cologne and Munich shows that the unemployment rate for adults on the autism spectrum is five times higher than for non-autistic individuals – despite above-average levels of education.
Surveys, including those conducted by the UK's National Autistic Society, also indicate that the vast majority of autistic people want to work and are often highly qualified.
However, they are thwarted by inflexible and discriminatory hiring processes, a lack of workplace support, insufficient awareness of autism within companies, and prejudices from employers and colleagues.
Auticon helps companies to integrate neurodivergent talent. They work with clients who want to create a neurodiverse work environment by offering integration and technology solutions that benefit from their autistic experience.
