The area at the top of Mala Poľana, which is part of the ridge of Spišská Magura, is used by skiers, tourists, and cyclists throughout the year. The Treetop Walkway is located here - a scenic route that attracts up to 6,000 visitors a day in the summer months. Access to the entire area is provided by the tourist routes and the cable cars.
The aim of the new construction was to expand the facilities for the aforementioned activities. The new building was designed by the architects from the Compass studio (Juraj Benetin, Matej Grébert, Roman Janata) and was completed in 2019.
The glazed southern facade of the restaurant is oriented towards the view of the mountains. The architects worked carefully with the terrain. One of the biggest challenges was to solve the accessible route from the upper plateau to the lower level of the restaurant's terrace and then further, up to the entrance to the walkway through the treetops. This was achieved by means of an exterior staircase with an integrated ramp.
The restaurant has a capacity of 180 seats, the restaurant area also includes a bar island and a self-service operation capable of covering a large outdoor terrace with a capacity for 350 visitors.
