The Lumière Cinema in Bratislava is implementing a new project of inclusive screenings called Cinema without Barriers. Since September 2024, it has been offering film screenings accessible to people with visual or hearing impairments. Many interesting current films have been made accessible thanks to cooperation with the company TELEDATA, which produces audio commentaries (audio description) and inclusive descriptive subtitles for the films.

The films are equipped with descriptive subtitles and audio commentaries, while accompanying events are interpreted into Slovak sign language. The inclusive screenings are not only intended for people with disabilities but are open to the public in the accessible cinema building, which was renovated in the period 05/2023 - 02/2024.

The project is the result of thorough research and training of employees in the field of culture, communication, assistance or accompaniment of specific groups in cooperation with the Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired People of Slovakia (UNSS) and the OZ Myslím – Centre for Culture of the Deaf People and was created with the aim of ensuring the most enjoyable and inclusive movie experience. The Lumière Cinema is implementing the project in cooperation with the Association of Slovak Film Clubs and foreign partners under the leadership of the ZAMEK Cultural Centre in Poznan (Poland) and thanks to the support of the European Union.

The Lumière Cinema also provides a series of sensory-adapted screenings for children with autism spectrum disorder and ADHD. These children have the opportunity, together with their family and friends, to regularly attend sensory-friendly screenings that are adjusted to provide them with the greatest possible experience.
