Description
The Joint Ministerial Decision (JMD) 3299/2025 (Official Gazette 1187/B of 12 March 2025) establishes the criteria and conditions for the awarding of the Accessible Tourism Destination Certification, pursuant to Article 52 of Law 4875/2021.
Its purpose is to embed accessibility as a fundamental component of local policies and strategies, encompassing the built and natural environment, infrastructure, public spaces, attractions, ICT and public services.
The criteria set out include ensuring universal access to buildings, transport and facilities; provision of information in accessible formats; training of staff in serving persons with disabilities; establishment of monitoring mechanisms; and the promotion of inclusive practices across all tourism-related activities.
Furthermore, the Decision provides for the maintenance of an electronic registry of accessible destinations, the preparation of accessibility studies, and the renewal of the Certification every five years. This constitutes a significant step towards a more inclusive and accessible tourism sector in Greece.
