Description
Editorial information: CORP – Competence Center of Urban and Regional Planning. April 17, 2024. ISSN 2521-3938.
The CE-Spaces4All project aims to improve the accessibility of tourism infrastructure and services for persons with disabilities across Central Europe. With 12 project partners and 16 associated partners from six countries, the initiative focuses on developing tools, services, and strategic frameworks to enable independent and inclusive tourism.
The project uses a comprehensive data collection process—including office analysis, field verification, and the use of open geospatial tools (QGIS, QField, OpenStreetMap)—to assess and document the accessibility of urban and rural environments based on ISO standards (21542:2021 and 21902:2021).
The methodology addresses the specific needs of persons with mobility, visual, and hearing impairments, promoting inclusive design and equal participation. One of the core outputs is a publicly accessible Web Accessibility Viewer supporting policymakers and tourism providers in planning accessible environments. Capacity-building activities and participatory development in pilot areas (SI-HR-HU, AT-CZ, PL) ensure that solutions are co-designed and adapted to local contexts.
The project fosters cross-border cooperation and lays the groundwork for long-term policy integration and behavioural change toward a more inclusive tourism landscape in Central Europe.
