Description
CLIC is a collaborative network of around 40-42 organizations in the municipality of Cascais, Portugal, dedicated to improving the quality of life of people with disabilities through inclusion, accessibility, citizenship, and participation.
Through participatory public sessions (e.g. “Sessions Temos Voz / We Have a Voice”), CLIC engages people with various types of disabilities (motor, intellectual, organic, visual, hearing / “surda”) and their caregivers to collect proposals for improved policies and concrete actions. In these sessions there have been sign language interpreters (Portuguese Sign Language, LGP) present as part of the communication accessibility measures.
CLIC’s themes of action cover many areas: communication and awareness (including sign language interpretation and ILGP availability), information and service access, physical accessibility of buildings and public space, education (including basic LGP education), employment, leisure, culture, and independent living.
