Description
Editorial information: Masaryk University Press. ISBN-13 978-80-280-0141-4.
This resource pack aims to make foreign language education more accessible to Deaf, deaf, and hard of hearing (DHH) students in post-secondary education. It provides both theoretical insights into teaching languages to DHH learners and their participation in study-abroad programmes, as well as practical booklets focused on developing reading, writing, and study skills. By addressing the specific needs of DHH learners, the pack represents a valuable contribution toward promoting inclusive and equitable language education.
The pack consists of six units:
- Units 1, 2, and 3 are primarily intended for teachers involved in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) to DHH learners. These units explore the international mobility of DHH university students, particularly in relation to language skills, highlight key characteristics of TEFL for DHH learners, and provide a comprehensive Teacher’s Guide to the Booklets for Students.
- Units 4, 5, and 6 are designed for DHH university students preparing to study abroad. However, these booklets are also suitable for other DHH learners at similar proficiency levels who wish to improve their reading, study, and essay-writing skills, whether or not they plan to participate in a mobility programme. The materials can be used independently or with the support of a teacher.
