Description

Editorial information: European Disability Forum (EDF) with support from Google.org.

This report explores the status of digital skills, assistive technologies, and workplace accommodations for persons with disabilities in Austria.

Part of a broader EU-wide study by the European Disability Forum and supported by Google.org, the research highlights structural challenges in policy implementation, uneven access to digital tools, and a lack of consistent training opportunities. It reveals critical gaps in digital literacy, especially among older persons with disabilities, and a lack of coordinated national strategies.

Despite progressive laws, practical inclusion in the open labour market remains limited. The study identifies good practices, including training programs and employer-based support, while stressing the importance of participatory approaches and updated legal frameworks. It calls for stronger political commitment and targeted funding to close the digital divide and foster inclusive employment.
