Description
According to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities), everyone has the right to accessible information and communication. For people with reading and learning difficulties, easy language makes a significant contribution to this. In Germany, the Disability Equality Act, among other things, regulates the cases in where easy language is used by authorities, e.g. regarding information, contracts and applications.
This document is intended to clarify the legal requirements for the use of easy language. In this way, it supports public authorities at federal, state and local level, for example, in complying with the legal requirements. It can also support other organizations in the use of easy language.
