En intervjustudie med lärare i anpassad grundskola om tillgänglighetsfrämjande arbete för elever med måttlig till svår intellektuell funktionsnedsättning

Tillgänglighet i praktiken: En intervjustudie med lärare i anpassad grundskola om tillgänglighetsfrämjande arbete för elever med måttlig till svår intellektuell funktionsnedsättning (Accessibility in Practice: An Interview Study with Teachers in Adapted Primary School on Accessibility Promoting Work for Students with Moderate to Severe Intellectual Disabilities).

This study examines how teachers in adapted primary schools promote accessibility in the learning environment for students with moderate to severe intellectual disability. The study is based on the Swedish National Agency for Special Needs Education and Schools’ (Specialpedagogiska skolmyndigheten, SPSM) Accessibility Model. It includes semi structured interviews with 14 teachers from seven schools in three municipalities.

A thematic analysis shows that teachers actively work with pedagogical, physical, and social adaptations. The study highlights a relational approach, differentiated teaching-methods and visual support as key components. 

It shows that accessibility requires systematic, co creative efforts in which teacher competence and structural frameworks interact. The study also identifies organizational barriers that limit individual adaptation.
