Description
The progression of digitalization is leading to a gradual disappearance of physical counters in favour of automated machines in various sectors such as transport, hospitals, public services or the sale of products... However, this automation can make these services inaccessible to a part of the population. In response to this challenge, the European Accessibility Act, planned for full implementation in EU member States in June 2025, aims to impose accessibility standards for these machines.
With this in mind, the CAWaB (Wallonia-Brussels Accessibility Collective) has undertaken a collaborative approach aimed at defining the accessibility criteria for these machines, in the form of a guide. The recommendations made in this publication aim to help managers choose devices accessible to all, while providing decision-makers with technical standards that can be submitted to designers.
