Publicly funded cultural institutions are legally obliged to enable cultural participation for people with disabilities, both for employees, guests, artists and cultural professionals.

People with disabilities continue to be excluded due to different barriers, attitudes and ways of thinking in the cultural sector. Be it visiting a museum, taking part in a dance workshop, accessing professional artistic professional artistic training or working as an artist, people with disabilities have a right to participate. But where can cultural institutions start to provide inclusion? What should they consider so that people with disabilities can participate as a matter of course? What are possible first steps? And where should we go in the long term?

With this handbook, the Service Centre for Inclusion in the Cultural Sector aims to provide cultural actors from all sectors with a practice-oriented tool that helps them to work more inclusively step by step.
