How accessible are the websites and apps of Dutch government organizations? This Annual Digital Accessibility Monitor provides insight into the figures, but also into the world behind the figures. The report is completely online and accessible and serves as a wonderful example and best-practice of what organizations can do to make their yearly reports accessible and nice to read.
In the Netherlands, 4.5 million people cannot participate properly in the digital society. It is necessary to make government digital channels usable, accessible and user-friendly for them as well.
The online report gives a comprehensive overview of all the work done in the previous year and the outcomes for accessibility. The Dashboard has data about more than 8,974 websites and apps and is constantly growing. The report does not only present numbers, but also perspectives of persons with disabilities and practical stories. These give color to the figures and provide tools to make these digital channels more accessible. In a column, expert Vincent Bijlo shares his view on the state of affairs regarding digital accessibility.
