Museum accessibility is, above all, a way of thinking about the visitor experience, identifying with the perspectives of different people. The forms it can take can be very varied: it does not only concern the removal of physical barriers, but also, for example, the readability and comprehensibility of a text, or adequate training of the museum staff.
Accessibility should thus be understood as a process that goes through the museum in its entirety, so that the accessible museum becomes a real ground for innovation of practices, towards a possible democracy and a new concept of citizenship.
By understanding what barriers and stereotypes are encountered in this field, this text aims to propose questions and solicit research for solutions and experiences around museum accessibility.
