Description

Editorial information: Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health and Consumer Protection (Austria).

This report analyses the impact of digitalisation on the labour market inclusion of people with disabilities, through two case studies: Austria and the EU platform economy. It highlights both opportunities and risks posed by digitalisation.

While new technologies and flexible work arrangements (e.g., telework, platform work) can improve access for persons with disabilities, structural and systemic barriers persist.

The Austrian case shows mixed outcomes from policies like the Disability Employment Act and assistive tech availability. The EU-wide analysis finds potential for platform work but warns of low security and digital divides.

The report offers evidence-based policy recommendations to improve equity, accessibility, and support structures for inclusive digital labour markets.
