Description
This document presents the current state of implementation and recommendations of standards in the accessibility of public transportation in Luxembourg.
In 2010, the MEGA (Multi Disciplinary Group for Accessibility) validated a proposal from ADAPTH to introduce the standard "DIN32984 – Ground marking of public spaces" in Luxembourg. This standard defines the minimum characteristics of ground markings and is intended to guide blind or visually impaired people in places open to the public in complete safety. However, the standard also takes into account the needs of people with reduced mobility, since often the accommodations of some can be counterproductive for others.
This standard also made it possible to compensate for the shortcomings of the accessibility regulations dating from 2001 in the areas of roads and public transport infrastructure.
