The Olympic and Paralympic Games (OPG) to be held in Paris, in 2024, are a major planning challenge with millions of pedestrian spectators to be accommodated. This ambition of a greater “legacy” compared with previous editions of the Olympic Games targets a major improvement in the accessibility of the whole mobility chain (transport, public spaces, buildings).

The prefecture of the Ile-de-France region has entrusted the centre for studies on risks, environment, mobility and urban planning, Cerema, with a study aimed at providing methods and tools for achieving this goal.

The lessons drawn from this study have been summarised in this work, which provides strategies for making public spaces and pedestrian pathways accessible, particularly, in the vicinity of structural facilities such as stadiums, cultural venues, etc.
