The article focuses on legal topics, presenting in an easy-to-understand style what the current accessibility issues are of the digital world. First it introduces the national and European legislative bases of access to digital technologies. Secondly it clarifies what access to digital contents means as a part of orientation in the world. Then it goes around the topic of non-discriminative access to information related to public services, mapping the areas where this requirement applies. Finally it analyses the question of independent living and the boundaries of equal access and universal design, explaining how an accessible platform serves everyone independently from disabilities.
