Description

Editorial information: Klaipėda University Press. ISBN 9786094810794.

This monograph analyses the experiences of people with disabilities, their relatives, and health care professionals in the Lithuanian health care system, with the aim not only to investigate these experiences but also to improve the existing situation.

The study reveals that the current state of the health care system—where laws and practices are influenced by contextual and environmental factors—is a concern not only for people with disabilities but for society as a whole.

Topics discussed include perceptions of disability and justice, discrimination, ethics, accessibility, rehabilitation and prevention, and the situation of women and children with disabilities.

The research shows that the experiences of people with disabilities in health care remain underexplored and that existing studies often focus on narrow aspects.

The monograph emphasizes the need for universal access to health care – not limited to specific groups – and for a shift in attitudes toward the rights of people with disabilities to ensure their equal participation in the health care system.
