AccessibleEU Austria - Digital Euro and Financial Inclusion – Europe’s Path Between Regulation, Innovation and Responsibility (26-WS-AT-01)

Co-organised by AccessibleEU, the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) and the Hilfsgemeinschaft der Blinden und Sehschwachen Österreichs, the event provides guidance on regulatory obligations (including EN 301 549 and Design-for-All standards), highlights real barriers experienced in everyday banking and offers first-hand insight into pilot developments of the digital euro, including offline functionality, trust architecture and inclusion-related design considerations.

Workshops develop concrete approaches for accessible banking IT, customer communication, digital competence and innovative payment formats.

The objective is to enable banks to use regulatory requirements strategically — as a driver for customer trust, market expansion and sustainable innovation — while establishing a European exchange platform that systematically integrates financial inclusion into the evolution of the European payment ecosystem.

This workshop brings together banks, payment providers, FinTechs, regulators, researchers and user representatives to shape the future of an inclusive financial system.

By combining central bank expertise, regulatory insight, lived-experience knowledge and European policy coordination, the event creates a structured dialogue between policy, implementation and users.
