It will bring together urban planners / architects, policymakers, designers, educators, and persons with disabilities to explore how outdoor recreational spaces, such as parks, natural trails, and playgrounds, can become accesible and inclusive for all.
It is organised in collaboration with the Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre (NiMAC), The Center of Excellence in Research & Innovation in Social Sciences, the Arts and the Humanities (SocieAtH) - the Assistive Technology, Disability and Inclusive Education Multidisciplinary Research Unit of the European University Cyprus, and the Cyprus Organisation of Standardisation (CYS).
The objectives of the event are:
. Promote inclusive and accessible design principles for outdoor recreational spaces.
. Highlight the role of policy-making in shaping accessible built environments and support the implementation of accessibility legislation.
. Encourage collaboration and co-design principles by bringing together municipalities, urban planners/architects, educators, technology experts, and persons with disabilities.
. Identify barriers and opportunities in current outdoor spaces and planning practices and propose solutions.
