This creates social exclusion, in which the interest of preserving heritage becomes an obstacle to ensuring equal rights for all citizens to learn about the history and culture of their country.
This AccessibleEU event organised in partnership with the Union of Lithuanian People with Disabilities, seeks to create a constructive discussion space where heritage protection specialists and representatives of the disability community will meet, in order to find a balance between preserving authenticity and implementing universal design principles.
The aim is not only to substantiate the importance of heritage accessibility for human rights, but also to seek technical and value-based solutions to make historical sites accessible to all members of society.
