AccessibleEU Online Training - Introduction to accessible public transport -rules and rights- in Europe (2nd edition) (26-OT-EU-02)

Why does mobility matter? What are the key roles public transport plays in society? Why is it important to consider accessibility?

This introductory AccessibleEU online course aims to provide answers to these questions.

The course also covers the rights of people with disabilities using all modes of public transport, namely, trains (heavy and light rail), buses and coaches, and taxis, as well as maritime and air travel.
Specifically, it will enable students to:
• Learn about the inclusive design principles applied to public transport systems.
• Learn about the laws, good practice and bad practices on accessible transport in Europe as well as the shortcomings and problems.
• Understand the key role that transport can play for many European citizens.
• Understand the vital importance of the pedestrian environment in enabling access and use of public transport.
• Learn what it takes to create stress free, accessible transport buildings (stations and airports for example) 
• Understand the ways in which technology is having a positive or negative influence on the ability of people with disabilities to travel.
