AccessibleEU, one of the signatories of the Nicosia Declaration

The Nicosia Declaration calls for embedding accessibility, universal design, and assistive technology as core rights-based imperatives throughout higher education curricula and institutional practice.

The Declaration also urges reform of accreditation, governance, pedagogy, and quality assurance mechanisms to make accessibility a fundamental, non-optional component of academic excellence.

Moreover, it emphasizes co-design with direct participation of persons with disabilities in curriculum development, policy, and evaluation processes of higher education curricula across disciplines.

The AccessibleEU Centre is proud to be one of the first original signatories along with:

AAATE - Association for the Advancement of Assistive Technology in Europe

European University Cyprus

Cyprus University of Technology

IAAP EU

Teach Access

European Disability Forum

European Network on Independent Living (ENIL)

We invite organisations and individuals to read and endorse the Nicosia Declaration, as commitment to educate future professionals across sectors, on how to design and build an inclusive and accessible society.
