AccessibleEU opens a second edition of Accessible Public Transport online course

The course An introduction to accessible public transport – rules and rights – in Europe covers topics such as why mobility matters, good practices in accessibility in transport, inclusive design, and others. It is open from 16 March to 31 October.

The updated course teaches about inclusive design principles applied to public transport systems, the key role that transport can play for many European citizens, the importance of the pedestrian environment in enabling access and use of public transport, and what it takes to create stress free, accessible transport buildings.

It also reflects the latest legislative and policy developments, ensuring participants gain up‑to‑date knowledge aligned with European accessibility standards.

Specifically, this introductory course consists of 9 modules which are the following:

1.     Why mobility matters

2.     Trains (heavy rail)

3.     Light rail and tramways

4.     Bus and Coach / long distance bus

5.     Taxis

6.     Air Travel

7.     Maritime Travel

8.     Pedestrian environment and transport infrastructure

9.     Technology

This course is self-paced and has been designed following the MOOC format. The estimated dedication time is 25 hours.

Available free of charge, the training course is part of AccessibleEU’s ongoing efforts to strengthen expertise, promote best practices, and advance accessibility across Member States.
