AccessibleEU puts accessibility at the heart of financial services in EU

AccessibleEU, the European Banking Federation and the European Blind Union organised on 1 July the conference How to improve accessibility in banking services to celebrate the entry into force of the European Accessibility Act

The event was attended by the European Commissioner of Financial Services and the Savings and Investments Union Maria Luís Albuquerque, who stressed the importance of making financial services and their implementation accessible to enable economic and financial independence for all persons.

Participants agreed on the need to provide training in accessibility to finance and banking professionals, given the importance of the financial sector within economy of all Member States and how financial inclusion allows everyone to achieve greater independence.

They also discussed the challenges financial services, users and online payment systems face, and shared good practices in the field.
