The Access City Award celebrates cities that go above and beyond in ensuring accessibility across public spaces, transport, facilities, and services. This year’s winners are:

  • 1st Prize: Zaragoza (Spain)
  • 2nd Prize: Valencia (Spain)
  • 3rd Prize: Rennes (France)

Special mentions went to Salzburg (Austria)  for its achievements in accessible housing; Valencia (Spain) for its efforts in emergency preparedness, and Piacenza (Italy)  for advancing accessibility in information and communications technology.

These cities have demonstrated strong leadership in promoting accessibility and inclusion, setting an example for others across Europe.

The winners were announced during an award ceremony on 5 December 2025, as part of the European Day of Persons with Disabilities conference, organised by the European Commission in partnership with the European Disability Forum.

Since its launch 16 years ago, the Access City Award has recognised 77 cities, including 16 first-prize winners. Last year, Vienna (Austria) received the top award.
