Members of the G7 —Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as the European Union— adopted the Solfagnano Charter on 16 October, committing to participation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of social and political life.

The Charter consists of 8 priorities upon which the G7 countries commit to take action and support concrete policies for the inclusion and empowerment of persons, including autonomous and independent living, promotion of new technologies, and enhancement of talent and work inclusion. It also urges the G7 nations to take concrete actions to promote inclusive education, adopt sports as a catalyst for inclusion, and permanently include inclusion and disability in future G7 agendas.

The text was endorsed whithin the first-ever G7 dedicated to inclusion, accessibility, and persons with disabilities, which took place in Italy on 14-16 October.

AccessibleEU was present at the opening ceremony on 14 October in Assisi, at the Italian MS Society (AISM)'s stand near the square where the ceremony was held. The stand was visited by Italian Minister for Disability Locatelli, institutional representatives from the Region and Municipalities, persons with disabilities, and attendees from the event. It was an opportunity to experience the richness of the disability community and the pivotal role that associations play in advocating for and realizing the rights of persons with disabilities.
