Event's banner. Connecting accessibility and human support for full participation: Building the architecture for inclusion. Date: Wednesday 7 October 2026; Time 10-13h CET; Place: European Economic and Social Commitee (EESC) room VMA 22 Rue Belliard, 99-101, 1040 Brussels, Belgium. Type of event: Hybrid

As Europe advances its commitment to disability rights through the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), the European Accessibility Act and the European Disability Rights Strategy, one message is becoming increasingly clear: accessibility alone is not enough. While accessible environments and services are essential for equal participation, many persons with disabilities also rely on personalised support to live independently, make choices and fully engage in society. At the same time, support services can only be truly effective when delivered within accessible systems and environments.

Against this backdrop, AccessibleEU and EASPD will bring together policymakers, disability advocates, service providers, employers, researchers and accessibility experts to explore how accessibility and human support can work hand in hand to remove barriers and create more inclusive communities. Held as part of EASPD's Annual Conference, celebrating the organisation's 30th anniversary, the workshop will showcase policy developments, innovative practices and practical solutions that foster independent living and full participation across education, employment and community life.

The hybrid event will take place on 7 October 2026 from 09:30 to 13:00 CET at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels, with online participation available. To ensure broad participation, the event will offer a fully accessible venue, live English captioning, International Sign interpretation and an accessible online platform.

Participation is free of charge and open to all interested stakeholders. Registration is required.
