Romania launched TECH ASSIST, an initiative that aims to remove barriers limiting participation in daily life, education, employment and public services by providing access to advanced technologies. The programme is expected to strengthen beneficiaries’ independence, mobility and communication, as well as improve their access to information and digital environments.

Adopted in October 2025, the official methodology establishes that at least 4,307 children and adults with disabilities will receive support through e‑vouchers worth up to 39,900 RON per person. These digital vouchers can be used to acquire a wide range of assistive devices, including mobility aids, hearing and vision technologies, communication tools, and personal‑care equipment.

This programme, which is part of the country’s Inclusion and Social Dignity Programme (PoIDS) 2021-2027, marks an important step towards modernising Romania’s disability support system and expanding the use of assistive technologies nationwide. It has been implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Labour and Social Solidarity and local social‑services authorities.

TECH ASSIST is also aligned with international and European standards, including the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the European Accessibility Act.
