The document, titled Accessibility guide for stakeholders in the rail sector, offers legal references, practical recommendations, and detailed guidance covering trains, railway stations, digital services, and assistance services. It draws on more than 15 years of engagement with organisations representing persons with disabilities and reduced mobility in France.

Specifically, the document outlines obligations for rolling stock, accessibility features in railway stations, and standards for equipment such as toilets, seating, and onboard services.  It also provides descriptions of the most common needs of persons with motor, visual, hearing, intellectual and cognitive impairments.

In addition, the guide covers the obligation to train staff to properly welcome and provide assistance to passengers with disabilities.

SCNF’s guide is available in French and can be downloaded at no cost from the French Ministry of Ecological Transition
