Design for all, for real - Bulgaria

In Bulgaria, accessibility is often defined as installing a ramp and building an elevator. Sensory access and design of the space are out of the question. How does a child with autism or cognitive difficulties feel at school? The elevator and the ramp can't ease the feeling of chaos of furniture, colours, people and noises or the feeling of being lost on the floors.

Lusio Architects creates a blog with information that raises awareness about what accessibility is and why it is just not enough. They present the concept of an ‘environment for all’ or ‘universal design’ as a better alternative and one that is safe and comfortable, easy to orient and that stimulates communication. They also shared design solutions at kindergarten and schools, co-created with people with disabilities.
