The Bliznec forest trail is the first educational trail in Croatia that is fully adapted to people with disabilities, both in terms of design and content.
The path follows the course of the Bliznec stream on the Sljeme (the top of the mountain Medvednica) road (Sljemenska cesta), on the part of the road between the turn for cable car (žičara) and the Bliznec sawmill ("Šumarski gablec" bistro).
It is located at the most visited entrance to the Medvednica Nature Park. It is 800 meters long, its performance and content are completely adapted to disabled people, it can be used by people with mobility difficulties, blind and partially sighted people, as well as everyone else. It is wide enough for two-way passage in wheelchairs, and has a slope of 5% so that people in wheelchairs can overcome it independently.
If you walk all of its 800 meters and study the educational panels along the way, you will learn something about the colorful history of this part of Medvednica and its flora and fauna.
In 2003, the path was enriched with additional content - the Way of the Cross, and since then, every Good Friday, an increasing number of believers gather to visit its 14 stations. In addition to being fully accessible to people in wheelchairs, including families with small children.
Informational / educational boards in Latin and Braille have been placed along the entire path so that blind and partially sighted people can read them.
In order not to be damaged, the Braille texts are placed in unique "Forest Books". The trail is built mostly of wood and blends beautifully with the natural environment and ends at the Bliznec sawmill, which is conveniently located today as a restaurant.
