The Coalition for Inclusion's Festivals and Events for Accessibility theme network strives to make festivals and events accessible to everyone.
They mainly focus on event organizers by sharing knowledge, discussing and looking for opportunities. On this site you will find concrete information that you can use as an organizer. But also an explanation of why these adjustments are helpful. This offers scope to fit in well with the style of the festival.
Accessibility requires knowledge from all parties involved about what is needed and how to do it. Not only festival organizers, but also municipalities and festival goers with disabilities have a role in making festivals accessible. The theme network plays a connecting role in this:
- Organizer: There is no clear approach or fixed checklist for making festivals accessible. Every festival has its own style and accessibility that evolves with it.
- Municipalities: Local authorities have an interest in inclusion taking shape in their municipality. By inclusion we mean that people with disabilities participate in society and belong.
- Visitor: Visitors can contribute to the awareness of the other parties. Everyone's input is important. Precisely the input from experienced experts. Are there any areas for improvement?
