Improved information on tactile guiding lines at Dutch railway stations - Netherlands

The Dutch railway companies NS and ProRail have improved the information available about routing and tactile guiding lines (“geleidelijnen”) on their railway stations. These guiding lines are essential navigation tools that help blind and visually impaired people move independently through stations.

The improvement focused on ensuring that the online route descriptions on NS.nl accurately reflect the real situation at stations. Descriptions for 26 stations were reviewed and corrected where necessary. In addition, the information was rewritten in a clearer and more consistent structure, making it easier to understand and compare between stations.

A new and fully accessible reporting form allows users to report incorrect or outdated information. The reports are sent directly to ProRail, ensuring faster response and continuous improvement. New agreements with infrastructure partners enable quicker updates so that information remains current.

The changes contribute to a more inclusive transport system by providing reliable, up-to-date information that supports independent travel for people with visual impairments.
