JogaSimples is a Portuguese digital platform designed to facilitate access to adapted sport for people with disabilities.
It was founded by Tiago Maia, a young person with disability who spent nearly five years searching for a tennis club with the conditions required to accommodate his needs, only finding one at the age of 20.
This personal experience led him to identify systemic failures in available information about adapted sport in Portugal: outdated databases, incomplete club profiles, and a lack of data on accessibility conditions, adapted equipment, transport availability, and coach expertise.
JogaSimples addresses these gaps by providing a searchable, interactive map of clubs across Portugal that have conditions for people with disabilities to practise sport.
Each club profile includes structured information on physical accessibility, adapted equipment, trainer qualifications, schedules, and transport options. The platform currently lists nearly 150 clubs and has the support of 8 sports federations and 15 organisations working in the disability and sport sector.
JogaSimples was awarded the national 'Prémio Desporto + Acessível 2025' (the 4th edition of the More Accessible Sport Award), co-organised by the Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude (IPDJ) and the Instituto Nacional para a Reabilitação (INR).
