The Royal Alcazar of Sevilla is a historic royal palace in Seville (Spain). On 2 April 2023 the Real Alcázar of Seville launched a new interactive audioguide system that merges audio-description, Spanish Sign-Language signoguide, 3-D video re-creations and 10 spoken-language tracks into a single device and smartphone app.
Developed by the UTE Viajes Alsa + Pancho Tours, the solution lets visitors choose between renting an adapted handset or downloading the fully accessible app to their own phone.
The interface supports dynamic font sizing, contrast options and tactile buttons; every stop along the 30-room itinerary has synchronized AD and LSE video, while group radioguides reduce ambient noise inside sensitive heritage spaces.
More than 14 000 visitors used the service in its first two months, 38 % via personal devices. The Alcázar is the first Spanish World-Heritage site to combine LSE video, AD and 3-D reconstructions in a single multiplatform guide, setting a precedent for other monuments.
