The A.C.C.E.S. program at Kaufland is a comprehensive initiative aimed at promoting the employment of people with disabilities.
The program focuses on hiring and integrating people with disabilities into the workforce, aiming to challenge stereotypes, remove barriers, and create an environment that celebrates the unique abilities and contributions of individuals with disabilities.
To combat unconscious bias and the limited knowledge about living with a disability, the company put in place ongoing awareness trainings and regular examinations on what can be done better and how.
Working alongside colleagues with disabilities inspires empathy and compassion among all employees. This awareness and understanding translates into improved interactions with customers and collaboration between colleagues, creating a more supportive work environment. Last but certainly not least, the program allows people with disabilities to improve their abilities and actively participate in community life.
Thanks to the A.C.C.E.S. program, so far, Kaufland has adapted cash registers and allocated internal resources to adjust workspaces, adapted wheelchair shopping carts in over 50 cities, held 1065 interviews and proposed job offers with an average of 60 applications received per month.
