AccessibleEU Ireland - Understanding the EAA and decoding its Accessibility Requirements (24-WS-IE-01)

The Centre for Excellence in Universal Design (CEUD) at the National Disability Authority (NDA) and AccessibleEU, alongside the Irish Computer Society and Irish Accessibility Networking Group would like to present a workshop on Understanding the EAA.

This workshop is about helping you understand the European Accessibility Act (EAA), which is a set of rules that will make things like websites, products and services easier for everyone to use, including persons with disabilities. It will explain what these rules are and what they mean, as well as how they are connected with other important guidelines that make things accessible. You’ll also get to learn about the best way to follow the rules.

Objectives:

  • Teach you about the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and why it’s important.
  • Help you understand the main rules of the EAA and how they will affect products and services.
  • Explain how these rules connect to other guidelines and standards that help make things accessible.
  • Break down the rules into smaller, easy-to-understand parts and show you how to apply them in real life.
  • Share examples of best practices and how to follow the rules to make sure everything is accessible for everyone.

The Centre for Excellence in Universal Design (CEUD) is dedicated to enabling the design of environments that can be accessed, understood and used regardless of a person's age, size, ability or disability. It is part of the National Disability Authority.

  • Target audience: People and organisations in Ireland and across the EU, including those in market surveillance and compliance authorities, product designers, educators, students, people with disabilities and anyone else who wants to learn about the European Accessibility Act and how it works.
