AccessibleEU Lithuania - Conference "Challenges of women with disabilities in Lithuania" and exhibition "Disability and motherhood" (24-AW-LT-01)

AccessibleEU, together with the Forum of Lithuanian Disability Organizations, the Embassy of Sweden in Lithuania and Swedbank,  organise a conference to review the rights of women with disabilities and  an exhibition on motherhood and disability.

The intersection of disability and gender is a relatively recent development in Lithuania, but over the last few years it has become a priority topic for women and disability organisations, with a number of studies on the situation of women with disabilities and initiatives to protect their rights, especially on the topic of domestic violence.

The conference will delve on these studies and initiatives, which would then lead to the opening event of the exhibition. The exhibition would focus on the theme of motherhood and disability, presenting the challenges related to societal attitudes and discrimination experienced by mothers with disabilities. This exhibition will travel around Lithuania and it will provide an opportunity to discuss the situation of mothers with disabilities and the support services needed to ensure equal rights and opportunities for families where one or both parents have a disability.
