As part of the 17th International Conference of the Association for the Advancement of Assistive Technologies in Europe (AAATE), the European Accessibility Resource Centre (AccessibleEU) is organising a workshop titled 'Your Role in Making Higher Education More Accessible and Inclusive.' The event is hybrid and will take place on Tuesday, August 29th, at the Centre de Colloques du Campus Condorcet in Paris.

AccessibleEU is a key initiative proposed in the European Commission's Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030. The consortium led by ONCE Foundation, is composed of the European Network for Accessible Tourism (ENAT), the European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD), Johannes Kepler University Linz (Austria), and the Spanish Association for Standardization (UNE).

The workshop will be a space for knowledge exchange and sharing good practices, providing different stakeholders in educational institutions with the necessary tools and knowledge to meet the fundamental principles of universal design required by European regulations.

The main objective is to empower educators to educate future representatives of society on how to address the challenges that people with disabilities may encounter in their professional activities.

It will be conducted in English and will offer French translation, English subtitles, and international sign language interpretation. Registration is free and available through this link.

Agenda

The workshop's agenda is scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM with an introduction to AccessibleEU and its role in promoting accessibility in higher education at the European level. Among the participants is Jesús Hernández Galán, Director of Accessibility and Innovation at the ONCE Foundation and Director of AccessibleEU.

Following that, three panels will discuss inclusive education for all, best practices in accessibility at university institutions, and the implementation of accessibility in the university curriculum. The day will conclude with lunch at 1:30 PM.
