Description

Drawing on the experiences of museums both in Greece and abroad, the “2nd Guide on Museum Accessibility: Contemporary Theoretical Approaches and Practices in the Museum Field” seeks to promote a new understanding of accessibility as a continuous and long-term process that benefits everyone. It highlights the importance of creating inclusive cultural spaces, with a strong focus on the rights and needs of persons with disabilities, while also addressing the diverse needs of all visitors.

Through practical steps, good practices, and concrete recommendations, the Guide offers to museums and cultural institutions a roadmap for identifying and removing barriers, both visible and invisible, that hinder participation.

Organised into four sections, it covers theoretical approaches, steps towards accessibility, examples of good practices, and opportunities for networking and training. By adopting a holistic and human-centred approach, museums can foster open environments where culture becomes truly welcoming, meaningful, and engaging for all.
