Ireland’s National Disability Authority is conducting a survey on electric vehicles

They are particularly keen to know the opinion of persons with visual disabilities about the sounds electric cars make.

An electric car being charged

The National Disability Authority (NDA), in partnership with the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) Ireland, are currently running a survey to gather pedestrians’ experiences with electric vehicles (EVs).

EVs are different from regular cars because they run solely on electricity stored in a battery, which makes them very quiet.

To make sure pedestrians can hear them, speakers on the EV play computer-made sounds which can be different from one EV to another, and some people might find them a bit unusual as they don’t sound like regular engines.

The survey is for people aged 18 or over who have heard or seen an EV before, and completely anonymous. Participants will not be asked to provide their names or place of residency.

Complete the survey.
