From 2021 to 2024, the Swedish National Pensioners' Organisation (PRO) organized the DigiSen Project, aiming to improve digital life for senior citizens. The method had two parts:
- Educating elderly people about how to use digital services.
- Documenting the needs of elderly people in order to be able to help those who develop digital services make the services more usable by older people. (Many of those who develop digital services are younger people, who may not be very aware of the needs and abilities of the elderly.)
This has resulted in a number of useful resources, including the following:
- A concise 14 point collection of insights, meant to be used to educate digital practicioners about the needs of older people when it comes to digital technology. The insights are the results of asking more than 18000 persons aged 65 to 105 about their use (or non-use) of digital services.
- Eight video recordings containing guidance about how to produce digital services that cater for the needs of the elderly, 5 of which focus on cognitive accessibility aspects.
- Documented evaluations of strategically selected digital services of common interest, from the perspective of older people.
