In the last few years Cyprus has made a coherent effort to develop accessibility on the island’s beaches specifically focusing on mobility. There are many beaches on the island that are wheelchair accessible. This is denoted in the pertinent facts for each beach with an easily recognizable wheelchair access symbol.

A list of accessible beaches is available on the Deputy Ministry of Tourism website. Till now, it has listed so far 55 beaches for people with special access needs, including 38 fully accessible and 17 partially accessible.

Different systems are employed in different beaches: The Seatrac system is automatic enabling full access to the sea. Floating Wheelchairs can be easily moved on the sand and float in the water.
