The Slovene Ethnographic Museum, located in Ljubljana, Slovenia, is a key institution focusing on ethnography and strives to be accessible to all visitors, including those with special needs. The museum ensures physical accessibility through adapted entrances for wheelchair users, elevators, adapted restrooms, and available wheelchairs and chairs for those requiring mobility assistance. Content accessibility is addressed by offering multilingual exhibit labels and information materials, tactile and audio description guides for the visually impaired, and tailored educational programs for diverse visitor groups.
There are 12 copies of selected museum objects included in the permanent exhibition “Between Nature and Culture”. The objects represent the features of individual historical periods, production techniques and ways of life both in Slovenia and elsewhere in the world. They can be touched, enabling the visitors a different understanding of museum objects.

The museum actively organizes inclusive events, workshops, and activities, such as thematic exhibitions and specialized programs for children with different needs and older adults. Additionally, its website is designed with web accessibility standards in mind to cater to a broader audience.

The Slovene Ethnographic Museum also engages with local communities, promoting inclusivity through collaboration and events that foster understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity, demonstrating a commendable practice in museum accessibility and allowing the public to engage with Slovenian and global cultural heritage.
