Automated subtitles in Estonian Public Broadcasting

Commencing in the fall of 2023, a significant enhancement was introduced to the viewers of ETV and ETV2, Estonian Public Broadcasting’s two largest TV channels: the provision of automated subtitles for every program delivered in Estonian and produced in-house. This step is of great value to those with hearing impairments or who are deaf.

The software facilitating these subtitles, as well as the advanced speech recognition technology driving it, has been developed right here in Estonia.
