Commencing in the fall of 2023, a significant enhancement was introduced to the viewers of ETV and ETV2, Estonian Public Broadcasting’s two largest TV channels: the provision of automated subtitles for every program delivered in Estonian and produced in-house. This step is of great value to those with hearing impairments or who are deaf.
The software facilitating these subtitles, as well as the advanced speech recognition technology driving it, has been developed right here in Estonia.
Additionally, these subtitles serve as a resource for those striving to learn the Estonian language, allowing them to match spoken content with written text. For viewers in audio-sensitive environments or during quiet hours, these subtitles guarantee an undisturbed comprehension of broadcasts.
