Digital Accessibility Guide for the websites and applications for mobile devices of the Greek Public Administration organizations

Description

The Guide “Digital Accessibility Guide for the websites and applications for mobile devices of the Greek Public Administration organizations” was published by the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance in 2023 to help public sector bodies fully implement the provisions of the Chapter “H” of the Law 4727/2020, through which the EU Directive 2016/2102 was transposed into the national legislation.

The Directive aims to make public sector websites and mobile applications more accessible, and to harmonise standards within the EU, reducing barriers for developers of accessibility-related products and services and providing persons with disabilities with better access to online public services.

The target audience of the guide is the public administration officials who are responsible for developing and maintaining websites and mobile applications for their organizations, and, certainly, any other public administration official interested in issues regarding the accessibility of digital services.

The guide offers information on key concepts related to accessibility. Also, based on the standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021-03) "Accessibility requirements for ICT products and services", it provides descriptions of principles, guidelines, and success criteria as stated in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) (version 2.1, level AA). Additionally, it includes information on how to conduct simplified audits and the possibility of using combined expertise and user participation in assessing digital accessibility. Lastly, it offers information regarding the accessibility statement, its preparation, instructions for filling it out, and a sample of it.
